meet the artist
Hello, my name is Regan! I am an illustrator based in Minnesota.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to create something out of nothing, it felt like magic to me. My earliest memories of drawing are creating comics for The Sunday Scramble ( a weekly paper my siblings and I would make for our parents), and two small books I wrote and illustrated for school when I was 7 and 11.
I started taking drawing more βseriouslyβ in 2022. I put aside my pencil (the only drawing tool I really knew how to use), and allowed myself the freedom to play and have fun with colors. Copic markers, colored pencils, ink, and acrylic paint became some of my favorite go-to mediums. I am now learning Procreate, oil painting, and charcoal, and started taking continuing-ed classes at MCAD and The Atelier to improve my skills.
Much of what I draw or am inspired by is shaped by my childhood spent in the country. I was constantly surrounded by the magic of the great outdoors: flowers, water, trees, bugs, and endless sunshine and starry skies. Today, I do my best to continue to nurture that appreciation for the beauty and mysteries of nature, small details, the mundane, and the quiet complexities of the world and human kind.
Art gives me an outlet for visually expressing something I am learning or trying to understand in my own life or the world around me. My favorite part about being an artist (so far) is watching peopleβs faces light up when they are viewing my work, and listening to their interpretation of a particular piece, as its all so different for each individual.
I strive to balance a light-hearted sense of wonder, make-believe, fun, and nostalgia with a more serious depth of meaning and beauty. Thank you for being here, and I hope you are moved by at least some of what I create!
